Project Overview
Commercial Tenant Build-Out
This project involved the complete transformation of a former Sears retail building into a fully functional emergency medical services facility. As a general contractor providing full construction services , we managed the project from initial demolition through final build-out, coordinating every phase of construction and infrastructure upgrades.
Building Transformation & Preconstruction
- Former big-box retail space demolished down to the base structure
- Existing structural elements evaluated and integrated into the new design
- Preconstruction planning focused on workflow, durability, and long-term operational needs
- Replacement of existing cross-rod bracing with engineered steel framing
- Coordination with engineers and inspectors throughout the process
Custom Tenant Build-Out
Outdoor living was a key focus of this design. We incorporated multiple covered porches, screened living areas, balconies, and decks to extend the usable living space and strengthen the connection between indoor and outdoor environments. Architecturally, the home features a timeless exterior composed of heavy sacked brick, stone accents, vinyl shake detailing, decorative gable trusses, and steep roof pitches, creating depth, balance, and long-lasting curb appeal. This project reflects our design-build approach—combining thoughtful planning, efficient construction, and high-quality materials to create a home that is both functional and enduring.

Project Outcome
The final outcome of this project was extremely rewarding. The team at Pafford Medical Services was very happy with their new facility, and it has already become a critical part of their continued growth. As the fastest-growing private emergency medical service provider in the United States, and proudly based in Hope, Arkansas, Pafford needed a space that could support expansion, improve operations, and help them continue delivering essential emergency services across Arkansas—including in Saline County.
This project involved transforming a former large retail building down to its base structure and rebuilding it into a highly functional medical operations facility. As a commercial general contractor, I managed the project from pre-construction planning through final delivery, coordinating demolition, structural modifications, framing, and all interior build-out work. The finished space includes ambulance service bays, secure vehicle access, administrative offices, conference rooms, reception areas, sleeping quarters, and a custom kitchen designed to support long shifts and 24/7 readiness.
From a construction management standpoint, the focus was on efficiency, durability, and long-term functionality. Every space was planned to support staff workflow, vehicle movement, and rapid response times. The new facility gives Pafford the capacity they need to grow their team, expand services, and better serve communities throughout Central Arkansas.
Seeing how this space directly supports lifesaving work and allows the organization to continue expanding across the state reinforces the value of a well-executed commercial tenant build-out . Delivering this project as a full-service construction partner—handling everything from pre-construction through post-construction—was a great example of how thoughtful planning and quality workmanship can have a real, lasting impact.
