Find Problems on the Plans Before They Become Problems in the Field
Construction drawings can be complete and still contain details that are difficult, expensive, or impractical to build.
At Rye General Contractors, we review commercial construction plans from a contractor’s perspective to identify potential conflicts, coordination issues, and field problems before construction begins.
The goal is simple: solve problems on paper instead of solving them on the jobsite.

What Is a Constructability Review?
A constructability review looks beyond the individual drawings and considers how the entire project will actually come together in the field.
We evaluate how the building, site, structure, mechanical systems, electrical systems, plumbing, materials, and construction sequence work together.
The purpose is not to redesign the architect’s or engineer’s work. It is to identify conditions that could lead to unnecessary costs, delays, field modifications, or change orders.
What We Look For
Depending on the project, our review may include:
- Mechanical, electrical, and plumbing conflicts
- Structural and architectural coordination
- Ceiling and above-ceiling congestion
- Existing conditions in renovations
- Site access and construction logistics
- Utility connections
- Grading and drainage considerations
- Material transitions and waterproofing details
- Equipment locations and access
- Construction sequencing and phasing
These issues are much easier to address before materials are ordered and work begins.
Renovations & Existing Buildings
Constructability review can be especially valuable for renovations and tenant improvements.
Existing buildings do not always match the original drawings. Utilities may have been relocated, previous renovations may be undocumented, and available space above ceilings or inside walls may be limited.
When appropriate, we may recommend additional investigation such as above-ceiling inspections, utility verification, field measurements, or limited exploratory demolition before final pricing or construction.
Site & Building Coordination
Constructability does not stop at the building walls.
Site access, utilities, drainage, equipment access, material deliveries, parking, and existing improvements can all affect how a project is built.
Our construction experience combined with our civil engineering background allows us to evaluate both the building and site when reviewing a project.
Why Constructability Review Matters
A conflict discovered during design might require a revised detail and a few conversations.
That same conflict discovered after installation may require demolition, new materials, additional labor, and schedule delays.
The earlier a problem is identified, the more options you typically have to solve it.
